Varian Thorny Oyster – large No1
The beautiful Varian Thorny Oyster (Spondylus Varians) is closely related to the scallop and lives permanently attached to corals or rocks.
The shell comes as two halves making it an ideal hidey hole for jewellery or small trinkets, with some of our customers also using them as Ring Bearers at Weddings
The surface of this particular specimen displays regimented rows of spines and wave like formations, whilst its end is tinged with pinkish orange hues.

Sometimes known as Chrysanthemum Shells due to their flower-like appearance, this species can be commonly found in Philippine waters.Size: approx 15 x 10 x 20 cm long (6 x 4 x 8 inches)
