Description
The lightest of browns to rich chestnut in colour, these large Tonna shells have attractive and prominent flat spiralled ribs that circle inward towards colours of yellow and cream.
The Tonnidae are a family of large, rounded shells, the animal, which is often larger than its shell, is carnivorous, feeding on fish, urchins, crabs and sea cucumbers.
The species (tonna galea) inhabit tropical seas and live in moderate to deep water and are common to the Indo-Pacific region.
