Tide Clock – Turquoise

The simple Scandinavian design influences of this Tide Clock, with its white and dark blue writing, over a turquoise dial may well have you rushing to the coast for fun.

Whether you’re planning a sailing trip, walking the beach or simply building sandcastles, it’s always helpful to know whether the tides in or out.

Synchronised to the moon's daily cycle, the tide clock gives you a quick convenient guide its ebb and flow.

Set the clock to your local tides or if you prefer, to some other favourite holiday or memorable location in the world. That way whenever you’re day-dreaming about your special place you’ll know what the tides doing.

The quartz driven tide hand rotates every 12 hours, 25 minutes and 14 seconds around the fascia, giving you the state of the tide at a glance.

The length of time may seem a little odd, but it actually corresponds to the average time between 2 high tides and 2 low tides (where tides are mostly regular).

The design also provides an indication of how many hours remain until high or low water. Tide clocks are only intended as a guide given the variable nature of the tides.

There are other influences on sea levels that can affect exact tide times and the user should take these into account:
 

Strong onshore and offshore winds

Changes in the volume of river flows

Variations in atmospheric pressure

The suns own gravitational pull, when lined up with the moon increases the tidal range, and can alter tide times by up to an hour.

The clocks are handmade in France, within a natural beech wood frame. The printed face is coated and UV resistant and has a white metal hand protected by a mineral glass face.

Running on a single AA battery - not provided, the tide clocks hand is adjusted using a small fly wheel on the back of the silent clock movement.
