The White Beach – Mosaic Picture

Simply entitled ‘The White Beach’, this contemporary mosaic picture by Marcus Jubb conjures up the shoreline beautifully.

Created from a variety of found and gathered materials the piece includes shells, beach glass and shards of mirror that reflect the space in which the picture resides.

Representing the sky, the scene is enhanced by the inclusion of a lustre piece of coloured art glass whose colours shift across the spectrum as viewed from different angles.

Enchanted by all the sea offers up, Somerset based artist Marcus creates wonderfully evocative scenes that capture the coastline.

I studied art at the West Sussex College of Art and Design; which was an amazing opportunity giving me a solid foundation of artistic skills in a variety of disciplines.

However, it wasn’t until I visited the Roman remains at Lopen in Somerset that my artistic direction took a completely new turn.

The breathtaking mosaics I saw there, vibrant in their colour after more than a thousand years inspired me to create my own mosaic forms.

Each coastal creation is a unique, dynamic and contemporary work which uses an ancient art form to evoke the feelings and emotions of amazing locations.
