Thames Sailing Barge – A3 Print

A Thames Sailing Barge in full sail is depicted in this original limited edition A3 reduction linocut print by artist Richard Juniper.
 

A ‘reduction linocut’ is a method of block printing in which each colour layer is taken from the same block.
 

The image is carved into a block of hessian covered by a thick piece of linoleum and then inked and pressed on paper to create a print.
 

More lino is removed from the block for each layer and each colour is printed on top of the last.
 

This means that an entire edition must be printed in one go. Once you have carved into the block for the next layer, you can’t go back to print more.
 

Each one of these limited edition prints is an original work of art and is technically known as an impression as each is unique and may vary slightly.
 

They are individually hand printed on 140gsm acid-free white cartridge paper using blue, brown and black inks.
 

The print will fit into any standard A3 frame.
 

Each print is signed and numbered in pencil by the artist in his studio.
