Terms & Conditions for Shoppers
Our simple terms are here to help and inform you, please take a moment to review them.
We are still open, but in line with government advice, we are taking extra measures to support our team & customer’s health and well being.
The majority of our team are now working at home to ensure we can continue to meet our customer needs. The few staff that remain on site are committed to ensuring orders are delivered to our customers on time and safely.
Our distribution team are following strict hygiene practices to protect themselves and our customers, whilst our couriers are operating to a “contact free” delivery process, where customers will not be asked to sign for their deliveries.
Deliveries may take a little longer during these times.
We continue to monitor the status of the outbreak.
Thank you for supporting us during these difficult times, keep safe and take care.
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and click on the “add to basket” button for any items that you wish to buy, and they will be placed into your shopping basket. You will then be able to modify the order quantities.
After you have finished your selection, click the “Checkout” button for payment options. If you get stuck, please call us on 01460 57405 for help. Don't forget you can always place your order by phone if you prefer.
We aim to pack & dispatch your order within 24 hours of receipt and for the items to arrive with UK mainland customers within 2-4 working days subject to stock availability. During busy periods we will endeavour to inform you if there are any delays. Please note a signature may be required on delivery.
UK Next Day Delivery
This option costs £10.95 and is available on orders placed Monday to Friday no later than12 midday from receipt of payment. A signature is required on delivery.
Selecting Next Day delivery after this time will mean your package will be dispatched the following day for delivery the next working day.
Please be aware that weekend deliveries are not possible with our Next Day service, therefore if selected on a Friday your package will be delivered on Monday (or the next working day in the case of a bank holiday).
international delivery (including the Channel Islands)
International deliveries on average take between 3-8 days to arrive, but some shipments can take up to 2 weeks and possibly longer depending on their end destination. We are therefore unable to guarantee a specific arrival/delivery date for overseas deliveries.
If you order Products from our Website for delivery outside the UK, they may be subject to import duties and taxes which are levied when the delivery reaches the specified destination.
You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. Please note that we have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. Please contact your local customs office for further information before placing your order.
All gifts sent through our International delivery services are insured for loss or damage in transit, unfortunately carriage costs are not, so if for whatever reason the goods are not accepted by the recipient, not collected when/where required or returned to sender then these costs are entirely at your own risk.
We are not responsible for the reliability or otherwise of overseas postal/courier services.
All transactions are made in British Pounds Sterling and the exchange rate is calculated by the payment card provider at time of transaction. Please note that some banks may charge you an additional fee for certain transactions (for example, international transactions).
Please note that any refunds to overseas orders will be done in British Pounds Sterling for the exact amount charged by us in Pounds Sterling.
Buy the Sea cannot be held responsible for any variations in exchange rates and consequent loss of currency as a result of any such changes. We strongly recommend our customers to consider this before placing and confirming any overseas orders.
When parcels travel by air we are charged not only for the weight of the parcel but also for the amount of space the parcel takes up. In order to charge correctly for the weight and size of an item, carriers have developed an international volume to weight calculation. For parcels in excess of 25 kilos we may contact you for additional delivery charges.
Please contact us email@example.com if you want to check timing or costs of delivery; we'll be very happy to help.
If an item you have ordered should become unexpectedly out of stock, we will back order the item for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait, particularly if the item was selected for a special occasion. Our delivery charge applies only once to an order. If any items become out of stock there will be no additional fee for posting them on at a later date.
Once payment has been confirmed, we are unable to cancel an order. If you are unhappy with the goods once they have been received, please follow the returns procedure above.
We take your security very seriously at Buy the Sea, and have therefore implemented online payments through Worldpay and PayPal, both industry leaders with a strong reputation regarding security. Each automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to theirs, using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).
This means store pages are uploaded to a secure area of a web server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically, to control access. When customers are submitting data over an SSL connection (shown by the golden padlock or golden key appearing in the browser window), nobody else on the Internet will be able to read what they are typing in. This prevents the interception of credit card numbers as they are entered. So secure that even we don't see your card details!
As regards computer viruses, our computer system is protected by the very latest anti-virus software, which is automatically updated every four hours. The system is further protected by a firewall, so you can be sure that you are in safe hands!
Buy the Sea is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website; you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

This is to confirm that the seashells and shell products supplied at Buy the Sea are all collected from a naturally sustainable resource and are either a by-product of local food gathering, or naturally available, such as flotsam brought in by the tide.
Many shells will have acquired certain marks and imperfections during their lifetime and these should be considered perfectly normal.
They are gathered and exported with the permission of the local fisheries authorities and (when required) with certification from CITIES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).
We sell no endangered species and we continue to make every effort to monitor relevant data through trade information and conservation societies in order to ensure this continues to be the case.
