Storm Over Dungeness – painting
Dungeness has a strange desert landscape, the eerie atmosphere of this remote corner of the Kentish coast is even more so when storm clouds threaten.
This original painting by Nick Kelly is simply entitled ‘Storm Over Dungeness’.
Dungeness, at the very tip of the Kent coast is one of the artists favourite places. “I usually paint Dungeness, with brighter skies but I couldn’t resist the challenge of capturing the desolate landscape here with nobody about, as the rain began to pour” says Nick.
Growing up in Whitstable he has always had a fondness for the sea, developing his artistic style.
Many years were spent travelling and working in the Middle East, but in later years he settled back in Whitstable where he now paints and writes.
Nick has a particular love of figures placed in a landscape. ‘I’m interested in the relationship between humans and the environment, from the single walker enjoying peace and tranquillity to the mass of people gathering on the beach on a warm summer day.’
His work can also been seen at galleries in Whitstable, Westgate and Margate.
This original painting is painted in acrylic on a 4 cm deep edged canvas, the work is unframed, but is ready to hang.
