Spiral - Fish Art Sculpture
Taking its name from the rusted metal spiral that features on one side of this fish sculpture, this beautifully decorated piece of coastal art is by artist Laurence Henry.
The piece includes a complex two sided design incorporating coastal finds and depiction of a heart within its abstract design.
Full of texture and pattern the fish has a copper verdigris tail and hangs from a fish lure made from coloured wooden beads. The reverse shows a wonderfully encrusted fish head design with a copper eye.
Sure to find a home on any wall, the fish could also be suspended from a thread to display both sides at once while gently spinning.
Created on a driftwood find, Laurence uses a variety of techniques to create interesting textural relief designs on his highly desirable coastal art works.
Laurence has worked as a freelance artist to Liberty, Parker Knoll, Habitat and Gallery Five, before eventually taking full time employment with the BBC as a graphic designer illustrating material for Play School and Jackanory.
His work is currently exhibited at various galleries around the country.
As a display idea, try hanging a few of Laurence’s fish together in a shoal to create a truly inspiring piece for greater impact.
A unique and individual piece of coastal art.
