Shell in Pocket – Print
This original limited edition print is taken from an original pen and ink drawing by Kim Lynch.
The simple design and message ‘May you always have a shell in your pocket and sand in your shoes’ takes its inspiration from traditional sailors' art with a modern interpretation of scrimshaw.
Kim’s limited edition prints often use poetry and song lyrics as inspiration, and are intricate, lively, and above all, happy image of Cornish beach life.
The daughter of successful painter Kim began drawing at an early age, using her eye for detailed line-work in an unusual way.
At 14 she entered a competition sponsored by Habitat for the best painting on an egg and won first prize. Her decorated goose eggs went on to be shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum and Kim was commissioned to paint eggs for both Harrods and Liberty’s of London.
After a career in Graphic Design in 2002 she moved from London to St Ives, Cornwall. This connection with the sea has inspired her work, which is based on traditional sailors’ art and is a modern interpretation of scrimshaw.
Buying a Kim Lynch print ensures you will have something genuinely unique, lovingly made and authentically Cornish!
Please note, some photos demonstrate how lovely the print looks framed, but please note that each is sold unframed and without a mount.
