Seal Basking

The hand carved and painted face of these wooden seals are very appealing. 

Seals love to haul themselves out between tides, often in very large groups, and can be seen lolling playfully on rocks waiting for lift off from the incoming tide. 

This lovely creature, sometimes called the ‘roman seal’ because of its distinctive nose, is found mainly around rocky northern and western coasts. 

Intended for interior display, each bird has been skilfully hand carved by village craftsmen on the island of Bali in Indonesia. 

They are produced under fair trading conditions to benefit the village community as well as the producer and have been painted using lead free paints and local replaceable softwood.

Due to the handmade and painted nature of this product, there may be slight variations in colour and distressing from the images shown as each has its own individual character.
