Sea Mist – Round Pendant Necklace

Description
Inspired by everything coastal, this beautiful Sea Mist glass pendant necklace displays a richly decorated surface.
Available in two sizes, the disc shaped pendants are individually handmade by Julie Fountain from Italian glass and decorated on both sides with hand pulled details and fine silver in the unusual and highly skilled art known as lampworking.
The pendant combines sandy ivory coloured glass with beautiful transparent lavender glass, which when cooled is etched to give a special frosted finish.
During the process, brightly coloured glass rods are heated by a fiercely hot flame and manipulated by blowing and shaping while the glass is still fluid.
Afterwards each piece is annealed to remove the stress from the glass and to increase its strength. The process involves cooling the glass very slowly in a digitally controlled kiln.
Working from her studio in beautiful Malvern, England, Julie turns simple rods of glass into beautiful, hard wearing pieces of wearable art.
She’s as fascinated today as she was when she made her first bead. What originally started out as simple swirls of colour have evolved overtime into a distinctive style that has delighted customers the world over.
She has been teaching glass bead making since 2007.
Due to the very individual nature of these rather lovely pendants there may be differences in their composition from the images shown.

The pendants are supplied on an extra heavyweight silver pin and ring bail with a sterling silver Belcher chain.
The standard pendant comes with an 18” chain, whilst the extra large comes with a 24” chain, though other lengths can be selected to suit.
