Sea Holly Coastal Lamp

Description
Inspired by the Sea Holly growing on the sand dunes near Gwithian in St Ives bay, this stunning coastal lamp is made by David Raine.
The design feature an aqua crop of onyx like sea holly near the base, whilst higher up the stem a small rock pool is revealed.
Each individually handmade lamp would fit seamlessly into any neutral, contemporary or coastal setting to great effect.
Although more closely related to carrots than true holly, the tall spiky blue’ish green leaves of the sea holly are certainly distinctive. The plant can be found along many coastlines.
David’s love affair with the coast and sea developed from early childhood, with salt in his blood, it’s a theme that courses through much of his work.
Living in Cornwall the ocean and sky act as his inspiration and the very essence of the shoreline is represented in each of his works.
“I feel wonderfully privileged to be doing something that I feel so passionate about” says David.
Each lamp is cleverly created in studio by individually hand casting the pebbles using crushed Dolomite Marble and sculptural plaster together with calcium for whiteness.
The onyx like sea holly is cast resin, whilst the rock pools are also created using delicately shaded and pigmented resin.
The stem is made from stainless steel and is finished with a stainless bezel on the top stone.
Although following the same design, each of the pebble stones has its own unique qualities making every lamp that little bit different.
Sold with or without shade.
Complete with distinctive mussel shell tag of authenticity each is handcrafted in Cornwall.
