Sailing on the Swale - painting
In this original painting by Nick Kelly we see sailing boats on the river Swale in Kent, on a stretch between Seasalter on the mainland and the Isle of Sheppey.
Occasionally the sea changes from various shades of grey to much brighter hues of blue. The stiff wind makes good racing, as well as blowing the clouds across the North Sea.
Growing up in Whitstable Nick’s always had a fondness for the sea, developing his artistic style.
Many years were spent travelling and working in the Middle East, but in later years he settled back in Whitstable where he now paints and writes.
Nick has a particular love of figures placed in a landscape. ‘I’m interested in the relationship between humans and the environment, from the single walker enjoying peace and tranquillity to the mass of people gathering on the beach on a warm summer day.’
His work is also shown in galleries in Whitstable, Westgate and Margate.
This original painting is painted in acrylic and is framed and ready to hang.
