Puffin & Gannet Mug

Description

This delightful mug by Louise Stocker captures the enchanting Isle of May, where a clumsy puffin makes an awkward landing as a gannet plunges into the sea in search of fish.

Affectionately known as the “Jewel of the Forth”, the Isle of May is a small island and nature reserve lying five miles off the Fife coast near Anstruther. During the summer, boats carry visitors across the water to marvel at the breathtaking spectacle of seabirds; among them an astonishing 90,000 puffins, joined by guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and shags.

The lighthouse depicted in the scene is the historic Low Light lighthouse. Built in 1844, it now serves as an ornithological centre, continuing the island’s legacy as a haven for wildlife and bird enthusiasts alike.

Louise lives in the tiny little fishing village of Cellardyke having moved there in 2015 to fulfil a lifelong dream to live by the sea with its stunning scenery and slower pace of life.

The village which merges into the vibrant seaside town of Anstruther is situated in the beautiful East Neuk of Fife which is on the Eastern coastline of Scotland.

Inspiration is never far away within the areas picture-postcard villages, its glorious sandy beaches, its wildlife and the craggy coves of this unspoilt little corner or ‘nook’ of Scotland.

The perfect gift for anyone with a love of the seaside.

Printed all round with a lovely gloss finish, the mugs are dishwasher-friendly and printed in vivid, long-lasting colours.

Each mug measures 9.3cm high and 8cm in diameter.
