Polished Melon Shell – Large

These beautiful highly polished melon shells are perfect for displays and are popular with collectors.

These large display shells almost compel one to touch their  wonderfully reflective and smooth surface.

In its natural state the shell has a distinctive crown of spines that circle around the apex of the shell. These are lessened a little during the polishing process, but still leave an interesting focal point.

Belonging to the large volutidae family, melon shells are common to the Southwest Pacific and Indonesia in particular.
 
Colours naturally range between cream and orange browns.
