Pecten Vexillum Orange Scallop

Small but perfectly formed scallops in pretty orange hues.

The pectin vexillium scallop belongs to the very large pectinidae family of several hundred species of mostly colourful and attractive beach shells.

As a species they are free-swimming and move by flapping their valves together in a butterfly-like manner.

Scallop shells can be smooth, ridged or scaly, but all have the characteristic and well known fan shape.

Colours will naturally vary between pastel and darker shades of orange.

Sold individually, each shell is a matching pair, having been joined front & back.
