Pearl Polished Common Button Top Shells
£4.95
Description
Perfect for display or craft use, these pretty little buttons top shells have been polished to reveal the natural mother of pearl below their surface.
Gathered from far off tropical beaches the button tops are found lying just beneath the sandy surface.
In the Philippines they are commonly gathered as food where traditional market vendors provide the buyers with aromatic thorns from the Acacia to pry the meat out.
The common button top (umbonium vestiarum) shell is a widespread species in waters throughout the Indo Pacific.
Sold in 50g packs for display or craft use (average contents 250-300 shells)
