The name mushroom is derived from their obvious appearance though they are sometimes known as paper or razor corals.

Growing to approximately six inches in nature they are an abundant, diverse species living throughout the Indian Ocean and Pacific Oceans at depths of 700 to 4000 feet.

Interestingly they are able to switch sex from male to female and back again.
