Little Driftwood Tree - No: 06
This adorable little driftwood tree has been carefully made by artist Rachel White.
Each piece of driftwood is carefully selected and thoughtfully assembled to create the tree's unique shape.
Although it’s the perfect addition for any coastal retreat at Christmas, we’re sure you’ll find ways to reflect other holiday events by hanging hearts on Valentine's day, decorated eggs at Easter or even spooky spiders at Halloween.
Living just a mile from the sea, Rachel is a driftwood and beachcombing artist living in Weymouth and sources her materials on her long walks along the shores of the beautiful Jurassic Coast; a World Heritage site.
Her creations use only natural ‘as found’ driftwood pieces - in other words driftwood which has not been shaped or altered in any way.
She has exhibited and worked with driftwood since 2011. Her work with ghost nets and beach found plastics was exhibited at the 2019 ADEX Ocean Expo in Singapore and also featured in CurrentMood Magazine, Asia, headlining the feature ‘Trash to Treasure’, more recently her work was shown in the December issue of the US magazine 'Beach Combing'.
Rachel’s signature driftwood artwork often includes tiny interwoven found objects to add interest to her pieces, such as sea glass, small shells and on occasion finds such as beach pottery fragments, fossils or beach metal.
The little tree sent is the one photographed and comes fully assembled ready for display.
