Lions Paw Scallop Shell - Polished
£6.95
Description
The Lions Paw Scallop shell (nodipecten nodosus) reveals wonderful pinky purple hues once polished and has no sharp claws we’re pleased to say.
Scallops or Pectinidae, are a very large family of several hundred species of mostly colourful and attractive shells.
They are free-swimming and move by flapping their valves together, butterfly-like. The shells can be smooth, ridged or scaly, but all have the characteristic and well-known fan shape.
Common to the waters of the Western-Atlantic Ocean, it’s one of the largest scallops of the species.
Sold individually.
Size: approx 12-13 cm across (5 inches)
