The Kurodas Lyria Shell belongs to the large and well know family of Volutes which are popular with collectors, due to the wide variety of pattern and colour they display.
There are about 200 species of volutes that occupy worldwide seas, however its the warmer-water species that tend to have the more colourful exteriors.
All of them are carnivorous, feeding on small marine invertebrate animals. Most of inhabit deep seas and are abundant in warm temperate waters.
The Kurodas Lyria (Lyria Kurodai) is ridged along its length with a surface pattern of brown, cream amd orange lines.
A common shell to the waters of Taiwan and Vietnam.
Size: approx 7-8 cm long (3 inches)
