Description
The Horned Helmet Shell is a striking shell, decorated with a pale almost lace like exterior with orange brown markings that follow through to a delicate apricot coloured interior.
Helmet shells are a large family of very solid, often thickened shells found in shallow tropical seas.
They typically feed on sea urchins are often seen partly buried in sand with only the top and a couple of horns showing.
Also known as Cassis Cornuta the species is common in waters from the Indian Ocean to the Indo Pacific.
