Ghosting in the Bay – A2 Fine Art Print
Set against a stunning red sky, the outlines of seemingly ghostly ships can be seen in the bay representing the many vessels that participate in the parade of sail in Douarnenez, Brittany
This colourful limited edition A2 sized fine art print is from a series of original mixed media boat paintings by the talented artist David Raine depicting traditional Breton Chasse-Maree sailing boats.
The prestigious maritime festival draws participants from all corners of the globe, showcasing a diverse array of traditional sailing vessels against a backdrop of sparkling turquoise waters.
Back in the 90’s David took part in the parade himself aboard the 153-foot barque named Kaskelot, creating inspiration for his "Boats" series.
Through his unique artistic style, David skilfully conveys the energy, excitement, and sheer awe of sailing. To him, its a magical experience unlike any other.
With a lifetime of sailing experience, from Arab dhows to square rigged brigantines and barques, he has mastered the art of capturing the essence of these majestic vessels.
From braving gale-force winds while reefed and hard braced, to peacefully gliding through calm waters at twilight, David's paintings beautifully depict the adrenaline-pumping and contemplative aspects of sailing.
His "Boats" series exudes a sense of wonder and other-worldly charm, influenced by his years of experience as a movie marine art director and unique perspective on the world.
