First on the Beach – Coastal Card

This delightful coastal greeting card entitled ‘First on the Beach’ by artist Ed Boxall depicts a small boy and seagull.

The image is based on an original linocut print which was inspired by faraway things forgotten by the sea and rediscovered on a windy beach.

Ed graduated from St Martin’s College in 1999 and works as an artist, writer, printmaker, songwriter, storyteller and educator. 

He had several books published by Walker Books before independently establishing his own small scale publishers ‘The Pearbox Press’ where he continues to explores his richly illustrated world; titles include ‘The Rooftop Garden’, ‘Umpkin’, ‘The Shell Collector’ and his popular ‘Storm Tree Stories’.

He also loves to perform these with his own ‘magic lantern’ style projections, using giant pop-up silhouettes illuminated with fairy lights, which have prompted responses like “beautifully, wonderfully, inspiringly tingle-making”.
