Driftwood Sailboat– Watchet & Blue Anchor Bay
This delightful driftwood sailboat features a sail made from an authentic re-purposed nautical chart.
Cleverly handmade by Rachel White, this particular boat sits on a spalted driftwood base and uses a map featuring the waters around Watchet and Blue Anchor Bay off the North Somerset coast.
The map would have been originally used onboard for navigation on voyages around the British Isles. You can almost hear the whoosh and flapping of sails and the tinkling sound of spinnakers on mast.
Rachel is a driftwood and strandline artist living in Weymouth with her husband, a retired seaman, just a mile from the sea.
Made in her workshop studio, she sources her materials from local beaches and bays along the Jurassic Coast.
Rachel’s work is regularly exhibited at various galleries across the southwest and recently one of her creations was selected to dress the kitchen set of ‘Ainsley’s Good Mood Food' currently seen on ITV' at the moment, every Saturday morning.
Designed for indoor display only.
