Driftwood Framed Pebble Picture
This original ink and bleach artwork by Sally Deegan depicts three quartz-veined pebbles within a natural handmade driftwood frame.
Sally grew up on the North Yorkshire coast, although she now lives inland she’s still hugely inspired by the sea, the shore and the objects she finds there.
“I always come away from the beach with my pockets laden with pebbles and other shoreline finds” she says.
I enjoy working in ink and bleach and seeing what emerges and feel the technique lends itself beautifully to recreating the patterns that run through pebbles.
This type of pebble can be found in various parts of the British coastline; when the quartz band goes all the way round a pebble they are sometimes known as 'wishing stones'.
The little artwork is created on watercolour paper with a mount board backing and natural driftwood boarder ready for hanging.
