Driftwood Fish Wall Hanging | Rachel White

Driftwood Fish Wall Hanging

£60.00
Description
This unique handcrafted Driftwood Fish Wall Hanging has been designed and carefully made by Rachel White.

It features an eye made from a top shell, pieces of pale green sea glass from Lyme Regis in Dorset, a fragment of beach metal and small shells gathered from her local beach walks.

Rachel’s signature driftwood artwork often includes tiny interwoven found objects to add interest to her pieces such as sea glass, small shells, and on occasion finds such as beach pottery fragments, fossils or beach metal.

Made in her workshop studio, her creations use only natural ‘as found’ driftwood pieces - in other words driftwood which has not been shaped or altered in any way.

Rachel is a driftwood and strandline artist living in Weymouth just a mile from the sea, with her husband, a retired seaman. She sources her materials on her long beachcombing walks along the shores of the beautiful Jurassic Coast: a World Heritage site.

Rachel has exhibited and worked with driftwood since 2011 and most recently her work with ghost net and beach-found plastics has been exhibited at the 2019 ADEX Ocean Expo in Singapore, and in ‘currentMood’ magazine, Asia, headlining the feature ‘Trash to Treasure’ (March 2019).

Each piece is numbered and signed by the artist and bears a handwritten strung tag describing its provenance.
