Driftwood Anchor
This driftwood anchor wall hanging by Rachel White is perfect for introducing a nautical, coastal feel to your home.
Anchors have a long history and have traditionally become known as sailor’s icons standing for hope and safe homecoming.
This anchor includes a range of seashells, a small ammonite fossil and even an old cog nestling amongst the interwoven pieces of driftwood which were found along the shores of the Jurassic Coast of West Dorset, England.
Rachel is a driftwood and strandline artist living in Weymouth with her husband, a retired seaman, just a mile from the sea.
Made in her workshop studio, she sources her materials from local beaches and bays along the Jurassic Coast.
Her creations use only natural ‘as found’ driftwood pieces - in other words driftwood which has not been shaped or altered in any way.
Rachel’s work is regularly exhibited at various galleries across the southwest and recently one of her creations was selected to dress the kitchen set of ‘Ainsley’s Good Mood Food' on ITV.
The images show the actual item to be dispatched. Each piece is stamped and signed by the artist, and is ready to hang on your wall.
Designed for indoor display only.
The anchor also bears a handwritten tag describing its Jurassic Coastal provenance.
