Copper Heart Fish - Wall Art Hanging

The Copper Heart Fish takes its name from the central relief motif within this highly original driftwood fish wall hanging by Laurence Henry.

Created using driftwood and an array of carefully assembled reclaimed materials, the fish is full of fascinating detail.

The beautifully crafted piece includes an intricate relief design incorporating an expressive copper stud eye, the copper heart and several little fish together with found objects creating a striking patchwork of pattern and texture, while the warm weathered palette of sandy tones evokes the colours of the shoreline.

Finally the piece has an aged copper verdigris tail and hangs from a fish lure made from encrusted coloured wooden beads.

Laurence Henry worked as a freelance artist for Liberty, Parker Knoll, Habitat and Gallery Five, before joining the BBC as a graphic designer, creating illustrations for much-loved programmes including Play School and Jackanory.

Since taking early retirement he has devoted himself to his own artistic practice, producing distinctive mixed-media works that are exhibited in galleries throughout the UK.
