Citta Picca Shell
£12.95
Description
The Citta Picca shell features a striking surface of deep black tones, beautifully accented with flecks of white and soft sage green.
Portions of the shell have been carefully polished to reveal subtle flashes of iridescent mother of pearl beneath, adding depth and luminosity to its natural patterning.
Belonging to the Turbininae family home to hundreds of robust, heavy shelled species, the Citta Picca is beautifully distinctive.
This particular species (Cittarium pica stannum), commonly known as the Magpie Shell, is native to the warm shallow waters of the Caribbean. It is also edible and has long been a staple in local coastal cuisine.
Size: approx 9-10 cm across (3.5-4 inches)
