Description
The attractive and naturally occurring markings on the Chinese Tun Shell (tonna chinensis) beautifully follow that of the growth ridges on its surface.
Belonging to the large Tonnidae family of shells, they are beautifully rounded and are generally a lightweight species of shells. The animal which is often larger than its shell is carnivorous, feeding on fish, urchins, crabs and sea cucumbers.
They inhabit tropical seas and live in moderate to deep water and are common to the Indo-Pacific region.
Size: approx 7-8 cm long
