Chapmans Pool – Blue Fishing Rope Mirror

Inspired by the striking coastal landscape of Chapman's Pool in Dorset, this wall mirror by Rachel White features a vibrant, offset circle design that reflects the natural curves of the picturesque cove.

Nestled beneath St Aldhelm’s Head on the Isle of Purbeck, which, despite its name, is not actually an island , Chapman's Pool shares the same geological origins as nearby Lulworth Cove. Over thousands of years, the sea broke through the hard Portland stone at the mouth of the cove, gradually eroding the softer rock behind to create its distinctive horseshoe shape.

Each mirror is handcrafted using recycled and salvaged fishing nets, landing nets, and ropes collected from local beaches. The materials are carefully untangled, cleaned, dried, sorted, and thoughtfully assembled, transforming discarded marine waste into beautifully unique recycled mirrors.

Rachel is a driftwood and strandline artist living in Weymouth with her husband, a retired seaman, just a mile from the sea.

Made in her workshop studio, she sources her materials from local beaches and bays along the Jurassic Coast.

Rachel’s signature driftwood artwork often includes tiny interwoven found objects to add interest to her pieces, such as sea glass, small shells and on occasion finds such as beach pottery fragments, fossils or beach metal.

Her art work in is regularly exhibited in galleries around the southwest. Recently one of her amazing pieces was chosen to decorate the kitchen set of ‘Ainsley’s Good Mood Food' on TV.

The mirror uses a toughened, bevelled edged glass mirror and is ready to hang on your wall.

10% of proceeds from the sale of each mirror are being donated to the Weymouth & Portland Marine Litter Project.

Each piece is signed and stamped by the artist.
