Ceramic Pendant Light – Boat Design

Designed by Steve Duffy each ceramic pendant light is individually decorated by hand with fishing boats from the Stade.

The shingle beach at Stade near Hastings has been used for beaching boats for more than a thousand years.

The stylish and understated form of the lamp has been glazed white on the inside, whilst the outer unglazed surface is painted in Delft and Cobalt Blue colours, before being fired in the kiln at 1130C .

Each earthenware clay pendant lamp is hand thrown on the potter’s wheel making each a quite unique item.

Living in Rye on the East Sussex coast, artist and potter Steve Duffy is never far away from the inspiration for many of his creations.

Coming from a family with rich sea faring traditions, it perhaps not surprising that his work is imbued with strong coastal imagery.

The pendant lamp comes complete with a white bayonet lamp holder, a length of flex and a white ceiling rose.
