Beach Hut One Lino Print | Linocut | Marnie Baker

Beach Hut One - Lino Print

Description
This original beach hut lino print is one of a series by the artist Marnie Baker created in a study that was taken overlooking the Solent.

Beach huts are such a quintessentially English part of the British seaside and this carefully considered design with the Isle of Wight in the distance beautifully captures the scene with its striking yet simple imagery.

Marnie grew up and still lives just a stone’s throw from the Solent on the south coast in Hampshire. As both an artist and print-maker she is continually inspired by the ever changing sights, smells and sounds of the sea.

Her bright coloured images certainly help to bring back happy memories of days at the seaside for us all.

The linocut is a printmaking technique similar to that of the woodcut. The image is carved into a block of hessian covered by a thick piece of linoleum and then inked and pressed on paper to create a print.  The technique really came into its own after artists like Picasso and Matisse began to work in the medium.

Each one of these limited edition prints is an original work of art and is technically known as an impression. They are supplied ready mounted. Each is individually hand printed, signed and numbered by the artist.
