Barnacles will grow on almost anything in the ocean including the bottom of piers, rocks, whales and to the annoyance of many a sailor, boats and ships.
Clustering together in highly delicate and intricate structures of pinks and purples they make quite beautiful displays.
Barnacles are by far the commonest animal along rocky sea shores. Their numbers on one beach in the Isle of Man are said to be estimated at a thousand million alone.
As a natural item the size and shape of all specimens supplied will differ. The structures have been created by joining several pieces together and can vary from dense to loose, with the shape from wild to formal but each will bring its own unique character and beauty.
Please Note: The structures can be quite delicate and from time to time during transit, although well packaged, a barnacle or two may detach itself. This should be considered normal with this species and should not detract from the overall look of the piece and if necessary is easily replaced with a drop of glue.
