Avocet Preening

A beautifully hand carved and painted wood carving of a Avocet preening.

This graceful bird with its sweeping upturned bill and striking black and white plumage only started to re-colonise our shores towards the end of the twentieth century.

The tiny population continues to expand, spreading the species slowly northward.

Intended for interior display, each bird has been skilfully hand carved by village craftsmen on the island of Bali in Indonesia.

They are produced under fair trading conditions to benefit the village community as well as the producer and have been painted using lead free paints and local replaceable softwood.

Due to the handmade and painted nature of this product, there may be slight variations in colour and distressing from the images shown as each has its own individual character.
