Albacore Tuna Fish - Print
This fabulously detailed print of an Albacore Tuna Fish is taken from an original illustration by Martyn Warren.
The Albacore, also known as longfin tuna, is one of the smallest members of the tuna family and is a highly migratory fish that roams all the world’s tropical and temperate oceans.
With a metallic, dark blue back and silvery belly the fish has exceptionally long pectoral fins and with its streamlined, torpedo-shaped body is wonderfully adapted to fast continuous swimming.
Perfectly suited to any coastal themed room the print is designed to complement others in the artist’s coastal series.
Martyn’s illustration work is characterized by almost obsessively high detail. Working in a digital medium he likes to incorporate natural media, coloured papers and screen-print textures into each illustration.
This is achieved by working in layers, sometimes numbering hundreds using a graphic programme with custom brushes to enhance and refine each piece which can take upwards of two months to complete.
I've always held a fascination with nature and with animals in particular says Martyn. It seems natural (sorry) to combine this interest with my education in illustration (first class degree) to produce these prints.
They were originally designed as a series for my own coastal-themed bedroom, but after being practically instructed to do so by friends and family, I've decided to bring them to a wider audience.
Other illustration work by this artist also includes a published book entitled ‘Velcro Cows’ and contributing to an episode of Driver Dan's Story Train on cBeebies.
Each print is made using fade-resistant inks on to 200 gsm cartridge paper with a smooth matte finish.
