A Leith Fishing Boat

£125.00
Description
Created by artist Laurence Henry and full of elaborate detail this original art work depicts a Leith Fishing Boat.

The boat shows the letters LH which in this case tells us the vessel was registered in Leith, Scotland.

All fishing boats by law must have a Port of Registration and this is indicated by the one, two or three letters that precede the numbers painted on the hull.

The boat is designed to be wall hung and is full of inventive detail. The copper sail has a wonderful patination, whilst the three driftwood fish which are suspended below have a variety of patterns & texture created in relief.

Laurence has worked as a freelance artist to Liberty, Parker Knoll, Habitat and Gallery Five, before eventually taking full time employment with the BBC as a graphic designer illustrating material for Play School and Jackanory.

Since his early retirement in 1999, he has been able to concentrate on his artwork, which has always been an important focus to his creativity.

His work is currently exhibited at various galleries around the country.
